| A wry comedy centred on Nell Adams, an attractive and intelligent woman who has been deserted by her husband. Feeling at the crossroads of her life she embarks on a hopeless love affair with George Rush, a local teacher and poet, and married man. The affair is going nowhere until the arrival of Jim Grant, an older man, who comes into Nell's life and provides the spark that causes the dying affair to erupt suddenly into flame.
